From Coventry to Gaza

Closed are the minds of those if they cannot see
Beyond 7 October 2023
To the pain of a whole people
Trapped, restrained, dispossessed.
Once again, this repeats, in circles.
And Coventry, our city of Peace,
sells its weapons,
As the bombs rain down on the hell which has descended on Gaza

Dr. Jessica Northey is a researcher at the Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations since 2014 and was Director of Postgraduate Research from 2018–2020. Jessica has conducted extensive fieldwork in Algeria and other African countries focusing on local development actors and their role in political life. Her book “Civil Society in Algeria” was published in 2018 by I.B.Tauris and a revised, updated edition published in 2023.
