Researchers at Coventry University publish anthology ‘Reflections on US!’ on Palestine

Fourteen researchers of the Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations of Coventry University wrote a volume of various texts, ranging from opinion pieces to poems, that reflects their thinking about violence and injustice taking place in what is historically the land of Palestine. The volume wants to show that human solidarity and compassion for one another transcend location and time. Kif Kif publishes the volume in its entirety, and will highlight a number of individual contributions during the coming months.

“This anthology is meant to create an accessible venue for finding words, and expressing ourselves, starting from various backgrounds, engagements and life stories”, initiators Saad Halawani and Nella van den Brandt write in the introduction. “We hope it can be a way of holding each other in times that make us angry, despair and weep.”

“The contributions are written out of us being heartbroken with injustice and violence taking place in Gaza — the latter at this very moment backed up and fanned by many governments that claim to represent us. As sociologist Gargi Bhattacharyya writes, heartbreak is at the heart of an awareness of and living with injustice.”

The full anthology can be downloaded here.

The writings express the opinions of the individual authors, and are not representative of the views of the Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations or Coventry University.
